US-Guided Peripheral Intravenous (IV) Access- In this lecture you will learn to assess the basics and technical aspects to place of IV in the EM department.
To perform this procedure, it will require all equipment necessary for traditional PIV approach, a high frequency linear transducer, gel and long angiocatheter
(at least1.88 in) due to deeper sites.
For a more reliable venous cannulation, a radial artery catheterization set may be used in place of the traditional angiocatheter. As soon as flash is seen in the
plastic tubing, thread the guidewire past the tip of the needle, similar to the Seldinger technique.
